VALLEY CITIES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE APPOINTS KEY CLINICAL STAFF FOR NEW BEACON HILL FACILITY
Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care is opening a new inpatient treatment facility on Beacon Hill in October that will offer detoxification, medication-assisted treatment, and recovery services for homeless and low-income persons facing a mental health crisis, substance use disorder and/or opioid addiction.
This new facility, called Recovery Place Seattle, is an important step in providing accessible high quality care at a low cost for those living with substance use disorders in King County. Valley Cities has appointed the following key clinical staff to lead the services.

Dr. Tawnya Christiansen is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, and completed a psychiatry residency at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, California. She was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington, where she served as an attending at Harborview Medical Center’s Psychiatric Emergency Service from 2003-2016. She is a member of the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry and has particular interest in psychiatry and the law, especially as pertains to civil commitment, and in the treatment of co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders. She approaches each person entering her care as a unique and valuable individual with capacity for recovery, and views treatment as a collaborative process from which both the client and the providers will learn.
Valley Cities is a non-profit community behavioral health organization serving South King County. Their services include licensed mental health counseling, substance use disorder treatment, homeless outreach services, housing and family support, employment services, and veteran services.
