Shahzad Kazi
BECU recently welcomed Shahzad Kazi as senior vice president, credit risk management and chief credit officer (CCO). In his new role, Kazi is responsible for developing and executing a credit risk and portfolio management strategy across all of BECU’s consumer and commercial businesses. He also leads BECU’s Credit Risk Committee and plays a key role in other credit risk-related governance committees.
With more than 25 years of experience in consumer and commercial banking, credit and enterprise risk and credit policy administration leadership, Kazi brings a wealth of knowledge to Washington’s largest credit union. He joined BECU from Mosaic, an Oakland-based solar fintech company, where he served as the chief risk officer since 2016. Prior to that, he held senior executive roles at Suntrust, HSBC, Citibank and ABN-AMRO Bank.
Kazi has Bachelor’s degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Law from the University of Karachi in Pakistan and earned his Masters of Business Administration with a specialization in Quantitative Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Extending support to his community, he also serves as Treasurer on the board of the Human Development Foundation.
