Richard Patterson
Stantec hired Richard Patterson as transportation principal in the firm’s Bellevue, WA (33rd Place) office. He will work on building Stantec’s transportation practice in the Northwest. With a current focus on the state of Washington, his role is includes pursuing new clients, building the firm’s regional transportation backlog, and recruiting staff.

Patterson has 32 years of experience in transportation engineering, the majority in Washington State. He also worked for two years in Singapore designing subway systems, and for three years in Las Vegas as a bridge and structures group lead for a large engineering firm.
At his prior post, Patterson helped add new local clients and numerous local projects to the firm’s books. He was the project manager for the City of Seattle’s South Lander Street Grade Separation Project ($140M).
Patterson is a professional structural and civil engineer in Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona. He is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), American Public Works Association (APWA), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Currently, he is active in the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)/ACEC Executive Committee; WSDOT/ACEC Bridge and Structures Subcommittee; WSDOT/Association for General Contractors (AGC)/ACEC Design Build Committee; and the APWA Washington Scholarship Committee.
