Rajiv Sethi, MD
Rajiv Sethi, MD, has been promoted to medical director of Health Economics, a new executive leadership position at Virginia Mason.
He will focus on supporting the health system’s approach to providing value-based care and achieving practice efficiency. As medical director of the Neuroscience Institute at Virginia Mason, Dr. Sethi has performed industry-leading work on team-based approaches in spinal surgery where appropriateness and risk stratification are enhanced.
Dr. Sethi received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He was a Fulbright scholar in Public Health in Israel and Jordan. He completed a fellowship in Complex Spinal Surgery/Scoliosis and Deformity at the University of California, San Francisco after completing his residency at Harvard where he was chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital.
He serves on the board of the Scoliosis Research Society and has published 47 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters about spinal conditions and treatment since 2014. He edited two textbooks on safety and value-based strategies in the care of orthopedic and neurosurgical patients, both published in 2019. He is a full clinical professor of health services research at the University of Washington. Dr. Sethi is currently completing a doctorate degree in Health Economics at Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
