First Taiwan Tourism Center Opens in Seattle
The center is the country’s first in the United States

Taiwan has chosen Seattle for its first Taiwan Tourism Information Center in the United States.
The effort is part of the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s effort to expand its tourism presence across North America and deepen travel, cultural and business ties between Taiwan and the U.S. Seattle has had a sister city relationship with Kaohsiung, Taiwan, for decades.
“Seattle’s vibrant, globally engaged community is the perfect setting for our first U.S. tourism office,” says Ben Huang, director of the International Affairs Division, Taiwan Tourism Administration. “This new center enables us to connect more deeply with American travelers and share the unique, inspiring experiences that Taiwan has to offer.”
The center — located in downtown Seattle — officially opened Friday. It will serve the Pacific Northwest and beyond, including Portland, Salt Lake City and Denver.
The center says Taiwan offers “world-renowned” culinary experiences and historic temples, as well as hot springs, mountain hiking trails and night markets. The opening coincides with Taiwan’s recent launch of a “Waves of Wonder” tourism campaign that calls Seattle an “ideal Pacific gateway.” Four airlines already offer direct flights to Taiwan from Sea-Tac International Airport.
