Fierce Competition Favors Seattle
By Seattle Business Magazine May 19, 2010
Fierce Wireless, a wireless industry monitor, has published its annual list of the top 15 emerging wireless companies. Three of the 15, Dashwire, Swype, and Ground Truth, are Seattle based.
Dashwire is a four-year-old company that helps smart phone users manage their data. Swype has been around since 2008 and is taking advantage of the touch screen revolution with a new technology for typing on a touch screen. Ground Truth, who we profiled in April, provides information about data usage on smart phones.
We all knew that Seattle was a mobile mecca, but it appears that investors are willing to pump money into Seattle based companies despite Fierce Wireless stating that “venture capital funding in the telecom sector declined to $557.8 million
last year, down from $1.67 billion in 2008.”
Seattle continues to prove that it is a hot spot for start-ups and investors.
