Facebook intends to lease most of the space in a new Seattle office building just west of Lake Union within walking distance of Amazons headquarters and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, according to a report Friday afternoon by Bloomberg.

The news service said Facebook plans to lease 275,000 square feet in the newly constructed Dexter Station office building at 1101 Dexter Ave. N.

A local real estate source says Facebook plans to lease all but the top two floors of the project, which was developed on a speculative basis by Capstone Partners LLC.

The Bay area-based tech company had previously been rumored to be considering leasing a portion of the Macys building in downtown Seattle.

Facebooks fast-growing Seattle staff currently occupies space in the Metropolitan East office tower near downtown.

In an email, Facebook spokeswoman Genevieve Grdina said the company does not comment on rumors or speculation. Calls for comment to the Seattle and Portland offices of Dexter Station developer Capstone Partners LLC were not immediately returned.
