VALLEY CITIES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE APPOINTS KEY CLINICAL STAFF FOR NEW BEACON HILL FACILITY

Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care is opening a new inpatient treatment facility on Beacon Hill in October that will offer detoxification, medication-assisted treatment, and recovery services for homeless and low-income persons facing a mental health crisis, substance use disorder and/or opioid addiction.

This new facility, called Recovery Place Seattle, is an important step in providing accessible high quality care at a low cost for those living with substance use disorders in King County. Valley Cities has appointed the following key clinical staff to lead the services.

Dorothy Routt RN – Director of Nursing

Dorothy Routt has long been a champion for mental health and substance detoxification. After obtaining her BSN from Seattle University, Dorothy started her career as a Psychiatric RN at the Puget Sound VA. She worked at the bedside for several years before expanding her role to assistant nurse manager. She then moved to the outpatient setting, where she worked as a Staff Nurse and Nurse Educator. She obtained her Master’s degree in 2011 from Vanderbilt University to understand the healthcare system from a management perspective in order to better serve the needs of individuals with mental health and substance use difficulties. Dorothy brings wide-ranging experience to her new role as Director of Nursing at Valley Cities, along with the strong conviction that every individual needing assistance with substance use deserves respect and dignity. She plans to design a program that is accessible, comprehensive and holistic for all individuals in the Puget Sound Region.

Valley Cities is a non-profit community behavioral health organization serving South King County. Their services include licensed mental health counseling, substance use disorder treatment, homeless outreach services, housing and family support, employment services, and veteran services.
