Seasoned financial executive accepts appointment to drive economic growth and connect regional business leaders.

Seattle, Wash.  – The World Trade Center Seattle (WTCSE) announced today the appointment of Brandon Pedersen, executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Alaska Air Group, to its Board of Governors. Pedersen will serve as a co-chair with Ted Fick, CEO of the Port of Seattle, and Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group. He will join existing board members to foster connectivity among regional business leaders, and to discuss initiatives to stimulate economic growth in Seattle and throughout the Pacific Northwest. Currently, the Board of Governors is made up of 38 members, representing various industries throughout the region such as commerce, travel, health, maritime, retail and technology.

In Pedersen’s role at Alaska Air Group, he oversees the finance, fleet management, accounting/tax, investor relations, financial planning, supply chain, internal audit, strategic execution and project management groups. He is also a member of Alaska Air Group’s executive committee. He has received distinguished regional accolades such as the 2015 “CFO of the Year” award from the Puget Sound Business Journal.

“I stand proudly with the primary goal of World Trade Center Seattle — to foster connections among business leaders in our community,” said Pedersen. “The Northwest is a force for growth and innovation and it is organizations like this that help business leaders connect with one another and ultimately thrive.”

Pedersen came to Alaska Airlines in 2003 as staff vice president from the Seattle office of KPMG. Before assuming his current role in 2010, he served as Alaska Air Group’s corporate controller for seven years. He is currently a member of the University of Washington’s audit advisory committee and serves as a trustee of the accounting development fund. He also serves on the board of directors of Northwest Harvest and is a trustee of the Seattle Art Museum.

“World Trade Center Seattle strives to attract and foster networking and business growth opportunities,” said Shelley Tomberg, director at World Trade Center Seattle. “As the nucleus of global business opportunities we are pleased to welcome Brandon to the board and are excited for the wealth of knowledge he brings with him.”

Pedersen is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in business and economics, and he currently resides in Seattle with his wife, Janet, and their three children.

The first WTCSE board of governors meeting including Pedersen took place on October 12, 2016, followed by a WTSCE member reception.
