Seattle, WA (February 21, 2017) NYSE, TSX: STN

Stantec completes a major first step on its strategic plan to bring integrated mechanical and electrical services to its Pacific Northwest clients with the addition of Orion Morrissey, P.E. as principal and mechanical discipline lead. The new service offering will complement Stantec’s nearly 70-year electrical engineering practice in the region, brought to the firm through the 2015 merger with Sparling.

Morrissey will work with Stantec’s leadership in Seattle to develop its overall growth strategy and meet the high demands expected of a world class integrated MEP practice. Morrissey has extensive expertise in mechanical engineering, a strong resume in Stantec’s core markets, and an exceptional reputation on the west coast.

“For years and years, our clients have asked us to develop a mechanical practice to pair with our electrical practice, says Eric Overton, vice president, US West buildings group. “Well, here we are; and with Orion on board now to kick this off, we couldn’t be more excited about the future. Clients are demanding innovative designs that respond to the challenges of net zero energy and the 2030 challenge—all delivered as an integrated solution. We know the expectations of our clients, and they deserve the best. We fully intend on delivering on that promise”.

With 20 years of experience working in the built environment, Morrissey brings comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature control systems. His strengths include managing multi-disciplined teams of engineers to provide clients with design excellence in conjunction with a smooth and efficient design process. Morrissey’s unique breadth and depth of experiences, from journeyman sheet metal installer to mechanical discipline lead, provides him with comprehensive design, sustainability, and constructability knowledge.

Morrissey’s experience on various complicated projects, ranges from small remodels to high-rise towers. At previous posts, he played lead roles on the Washington State Convention Center Expansion, Swedish Medical Center First Hill Expansion, Veteran’s Administration Ambulatory Surgery Center in Alameda, CA, and Oakland Children’s Seismic Upgrade, among many others.

Morrissey is a licensed mechanical engineer in four states. He is a member of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Washington State Society of Healthcare Engineers (WSSHE).
