Federal prosecutors have charged former Microsoft business development director Robert D. Curry with three counts of wire fraud, stemming from allegations he embezzled more than $450,000 from the company. The charges were unsealed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
According to the charges, Curry used the money to pay for a vacation in Whistler, B.C., to buy expensive audio equipment and to pay off credit card debt. He allegedly created a shell company and falsified invoices to pull off the fraud.
Microsoft filed a civil lawsuit against Curry earlier this year, based on similar accusations. The money was allegedly funneled from the company to Curry between April and November 2010.
