Midsize Companies

Concur Technologies has been all over the news lately. The Redmond-based firm markets streamlined expense reporting systems for corporate travel and entertainment—and it’s doing a very good job. Concur ranked number 57 on Forbes’ “200 Best Small Companies” in 2009 and was number 54 on Fortune’s “100 Fastest Growing Companies” list in 2008. Concur is also a perennial presence near the top of our own Best Companies list.

That recognition is well deserved. Concur’s management firmly believes in the value of its employees, and the firm does everything it can to keep them happy and healthy. Its GlobalFit Program is a multifaceted benefit that includes discounts on health club memberships, home fitness equipment and even personal wellness consultations. (Want help in quitting smoking or refining your nutrition plan? Think about working at Concur.)

Add in a comprehensive employee assistance program and an extensive intranet, and you have a recipe for success.

Concur doesn’t stop there, though. It offers a host of in-house employee enrichment programs, including a transparent performance review process, professional coaching sessions, leadership development seminars and Concur University—replete with training courses, podcasts and numerous online tools.

The company’s Community Involvement Committee spurs employee participation in volunteer events including HopeLink food drives and a silent auction for the Boys & Girls Clubs. Each employee receives paid volunteer hours every quarter.

Keep in mind that these perks are coupled with an industry-leading suite of medical, dental and vision benefits. Concur’s growth has exceeded 20 percent in each of the past two years—further proof that a company will go as far as its employees are willing to drive it.
