Bartell Drug Co. is what we think of when we say Seattle
institution. Celebrating 120 years since it was founded in 1890, the company
has grown to 58 stores in the Puget Sound region, and is still very much a
family-owned business, led by CEO George D. Bartell and Jean Bartell Barber,
the grandson and granddaughter of founder George H. Bartell Sr.
But Bartell isnt the only old-timer on the block. At a time
when many local companies are being acquired, we think its well worth
celebrating those that have stuck it out. Heres a list of other Washington
businesses and institutions celebrating big round numbers in 2010. Happy
anniversary!
