TED Invades Seattle
By Seattle Business Magazine April 14, 2010
The TED lectures gained national fame by hosting interesting topics presented by interesting speakers. Now Seattle is putting on its own version of TED, dubbed TEDx, with licensing from the official TED organization.
The conference will be Friday, April 16th. This from the official website:
“This regional TEDx event will bring together great minds in creativity, scholarship, and entrepreneurship to discuss the possibilities and prospects of social development enhanced through information technologies. Inspiring projects and innovative leaders from Seattle to Cape Town will be showcased in this day-long conference.”
More than 1000 people entered a lottery for the 300 available $50 tickets. For those who cannot attend, a live stream of the even will be hosted on the website.
The speakers will range from local to national celebrities, including author Greg Bear, Seattle startup hero Ben Huh and Theo’s Chocolate found John Whinney.
