AS ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SALES
Seasoned Hospitality Professional to Drive Business, Elevate Market Share Awareness and Ensure Exceptional Client Experience
PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan 4, 2017) – The Benson announces the appointment of Shalia Clock as its new associate director of sales. In her new position, Shalia will be responsible for driving business for the hotel, overseeing the sales team and working closely with appropriate departments to ensure exceptional client experience and future sales.
Shalia brings more than 11 years of hospitality experience to her role, with the past eight years spent at The Benson. Most recently, Shalia held the position as group sales manager and received the Coast Hotels Platinum Sales Award in 2013. Prior to her time at The Benson, Shalia worked as assistant catering sales for the Grand Hyatt in Koloa, Hawaii, and front desk agent at the Stratford Inn in Ashland, Ore. In her new role, Shalia will continue to solicit, negotiate and book sales groups, while supervising the sales team, effectively convey the client’s vision and specifications to appropriate departments and rapidly respond to inquiries, concerns and issues. In addition, she will be responsible to continually innovate ways to expand the reach to key corporate, business and travel industry accounts and tap into community organizations to elevate the hotel’s market share and drive further business. Her unique background, incomparable people skills, professional network and portfolio make her well-equipped to drive hotel business and ensure the client experience is met and exceeded.
A native of Kapa’a, Hawaii, Shalia has lived in Oregon for many years. She is very active and enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, rafting and traveling with her husband and two young children. Shalia is an active member of the Oregon Chapter of Meeting Professionals International and the Portland Business Alliance. Shalia is a graduate of Southern Oregon University, where she acquired a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in hotel restaurant and resort management and a minor in health promotion/nutrition enrichment.
