Pierre Habis

The American Heart Association (AHA) has elected Union Bank Managing Director Pierre Habis as chairman of the Western States Affiliate (WSA) Board of Directors, serving for two years, starting July 1, 2016.

A volunteer since 2010, Habis has held various leadership positions within the affiliate board, including director-at-large and treasurer. Under his leadership, Union Bank has raised more than $7 million in support of the association’s lifesaving research, education and prevention programs. He also leads the efforts to promote health and wellness among Union Bank employees, customers and their families.  

Habis has more than 25 years of consumer and business banking experience and currently oversees nearly 350 Union Bank branches throughout California and the Pacific Northwest as the head of Retail Banking and Enterprise Marketing.

            “We are excited that Pierre has accepted the challenge to lead our affiliate,” said Kathy Rogers, Executive Vice President of the American Heart Association Western States Affiliate. “Pierre’s contributions to the advancement of our mission over the past several years have been immeasurable. His experience as a business leader and his passion for the cause will help elevate our lifesaving message and mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”   

Heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death in the U.S. The American Heart Association’s goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases by 20 percent by the year 2020.
