If you’re reading this from your home office, you’re not alone. Almost one-third of employees across Washington state work from home on at least a part-time basis.

A report from web hosting company Hostinger says slightly under 2 million people, or 32.7% of the state’s workforce, worked remotely at least one day out of the week during a recent seven-day measurement. Slightly more than half of those workers never set foot in a physical office. Another 21% went into an office just one or two days per week. That’s even higher than in 2022, according to U.S. Census data.

Maryland ranks No. 1, with 44% of workers on a hybrid/remote schedule. Telecommuting is least popular in Mississippi, where only 11.4% of employees work remotely.

Another study, from compliance company WorkMotion, ranks the city of Seattle No. 44 in the world for its remote working environment, good enough to rank ninth in the U.S. Among other metrics, the report examined cost of living, infrastructure, and number of shared workspaces.
