Barnes and Noble’s new electronic reader was supposed to provide stiff competition for the Kindle this Christmas, but reviewers from both the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times wrote in articles both published today that the product fell far short of matching the Kindle’s capabilities.The Journal’s Waltter Mossberg concludes that contrary to Barnes and Noble’s claims, there are more books (of the kind you would actually want to read) available for the Kindle than for the Nook. Mossberg also found the Nook “slower and more cumbersome than the Kindle. David Pogue says the Nook was “rushed to market” before it was ready.
