Our state is one of just seven with no income tax. Would 1098 substantially reduce our attractiveness to retirees and other people we want to attract to the region? That’s not clear. You would have to be a pretty wealthy retiree to be taxed. Still, the absence of an income tax is clearly an important selling point for the state. Check out this month’s story on the subject.
