Daniel J. and Nancy Bell Evans, the former governor and first lady of Washington, respectively, are co-recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Seattle Business magazines Community Impact Awards program. They were honored October 26 at the annual Community Impact Awards dinner at the Museum of History & Industry.

After a special congratulatory video from Washington Senator Maria Cantwell, the Evanses each spoke to accept the award.

In our short profile of Dan and Nancy Evans in the November issue of Seattle Business, theres a quote from Dan Evans that I especially like: If you dont take part in your community in a purely voluntary way, I think you are just missing out, said John Levesque, Seattle Business magazine managing editor, introducing the Evanses. Thats the essence, really, of these Community Impact Awards, and we couldnt be more pleased to bestow our Lifetime Achievement Award this year on two people who embody the idea of what Nancy Bell Evans summarizes rather succinctly as people helping people. The evanses are shining examples of people helping people — from Dans three terms as governor and one term as a U.S. senator to Nancys involvement with Friends of Cancer Lifeline and Planned Parenthood of Olympia. They have served their community well and truly.
