Seattle Fat Mall — the city’s first-ever  — will turn the Curvy Cactus storefront on Fourth Avenue into a monthlong pop-up marketplace for plus-size fashion, art, and gifts from local makers.

“We envision Seattle Fat Mall as more than just a retail space. It’s a celebration of our community,” say Amber and Alyss Seelig, sisters and Curvy Cactus co-founders. “We’re excited to provide a space for local artists and makers to showcase their incredible work while creating a welcoming and affirming space for shoppers of all sizes.”

Starting April 5, the space at 1415 4th Ave. will become a joyful shopping destination centered on inclusive sizing, open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m on Wednesdays and noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays. The project is part of the Seattle Restored initiative, which activates empty storefronts with temporary businesses and arts programming.

Curvy Cactus is a resale and upcycled clothing business launched in 2021 with a mission to create a fun shopping experience for plus-size customers looking for curated looks in size large and up. For this new project, the sisters partnered with Candace Frank of Chub Rub Clothing. Frank is a local designer known for her bold fashion that centers fat bodies and for co-founding Fat Con, a fat liberation conference that debuted in Seattle in 2024.

“Everyone deserves access to beautiful, well-made items that celebrate their bodies, but most plus-size people are excluded from in-person shopping experiences,” Frank says.

Vendors at Seattle Fat Mall will include local artists, designers, and makers, with a focus on body-affirming products. An opening party is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 5 inside the Curvy Cactus space.
