The June CEOtoCEO Breakfast speaker is Scott Svenson, Co-Founder & CEO, of MOD Pizza.   MOD practices “enlightened capitalism,” and has chosen to not only try to build a company that is unabashedly for-profit, but also has a purpose of making a positive social impact.

Since its beginning, the company has consciously opened its doors to people without a history of formal employment or who have had run-ins with the law and who’d otherwise be hard to hire.  Combining social and business purpose, Swenson asserts, “instills us with a really strong purpose and social mission. You can end up building a much stronger business in the process.”

MOD has prospered with its approach, growing from 31 locations to 160 in the past two years. That number should top 200 soon. More than 3,000 employees were supported by $70.5 million in sales in the first half of 2016.
