The Best Companies to Work For
Google “Bath Fitter Inland Northwest,” and you’ll find hundreds of stellar reviews praising the Spokane bathroom remodeling company. Employees at Seattle tech company Omnidian use a “praise wall” to recognize colleagues. At Bellevue’s Pot O’ Gold Coffee Service, “no drama or power-tripping” is allowed.
Not surprisingly, all three appear on Seattle Business magazine’s annual list of Best Companies To Work For. Companies must first agree to participate, and employees themselves (including management) are extensively surveyed to determine the rankings. Companies are divided into three categories:
15-49 full-time Washington employees
50-149 full-time Washington employees
More than 150 full-time Washington employees
One mainstay on this list, Seattle wealth management firm Brighton Jones, routinely emphasizes two simple words to ensure that workers remain collegial and productive.
“It’s really clear on why we do things and where we’re going,” says Chief Strategy Officer "Scott" Leber. “What I’ve seen here, and I haven’t seen in any other company I’ve worked for, is that consistent vernacular of how we show up in our relationships. It’s the culture that keeps me here.”
