Visit Seattle Partners with Airbnb in Tourism Push
The groups will work to market Airbnb stays
By Rob Smith August 5, 2019
At a time when Seattle tourism is already at record highs and its hotel sector is booming, Visit Seattle has announced a partnership with Airbnb to further promote the city.
Specifically, Visit Seattle — a private, nonprofit organization that serves as King County’s tourism agency –is promoting stays in local properties aligned with Airbnb to promote Airbnb Experiences, which feature activities hosted by local residents.
Through the partnership, both Visit Seattle and Airbnb will work to educate and encourage Visit Seattle members to become Airbnb Experience hosts.
Visit Seattle is already promoting several unique Seattle experiences, including rowing, a Ballard brewery tour, a clam-digging field trip and the opportunity to make macarons with a chocolatier. Airbnb is offering its Experiences for $5 per person on a limited number of dates in August and September.
King County set a record for tourism last year, with almost 41 million visitors. It also set records for convention business, and seven new hotels opened in the city last year.
