Deep Roots
My great grandparents came to the Puget Sound region just after the turn of the last century, settling in Everett to work in the mills. I grew up here in West Seattle.

Favorite Haunt
For one, Alki, where I had my first job (Spud Fish & Chips), spent my last night of high school and where I asked my wife to marry me.

Ski Bum
I taught skiing at Alpental for several years and put myself through college at the University of Washington bartending all over town. I was also a DJ at college-radio station KCMU (now KEXP).

King County has an $11.6 billion, two-year budget and employs some 15,000 people.
