What goes together better than beer and brats and Memorial Day weekend?

In this case, not much, other than a Seattle-brewed beer and a heart-healthy vegan brat.

To pull that off, Seattles Elysian Brewing Co. has teamed up with Chicago-based Greenleaf Foods, owner of Field Roast Grain Meat Co., to unveil a plant-based, beer-infused brat, the Field Roast Bratwurst. The hot new brat will be featured at the upcoming Brat Fest the worlds largest bratwurst festival held in Madison, Wisconsin, over Memorial Day weekend.

Elysian, launched in Seattle in 1996, is a three-time Large Brewpub of the Year award winner at the Great American Beer Festival. The Field Roast brand makes use of plant-based meat and cheese and quality, all-natural, non-meat ingrediants, such as grains, fresh-cut vegetables, herbs and legumes.

We are excited to partner with a company that shares our values of bringing the best quality products to customers, while consistently innovating, says Dan Curtin, president of Greenleaf Foods. We want to continue providing new options and keeping our plant-based values at the focus of everything we do. Teaming up with Elysian allows for us to innovate and excite a new fanbase.

If you cant make it to Wisconsin to pay homage to the tradition of beer and brats in the summertime, you can find the Field Roast Bratwurst at local PCC Community Markets in Washington, with more retailers expected to be added soon.

So, as Memorial Day weekend approaches, maybe youre thinking about breaking out the grill for a backyard celebration. Nothing is more American than sharing Seattle beer infused in a Chicago-style vegan brat as you enjoy the company of friends and family. OK, maybe thats a stretch, but then all great traditions that add flavor to life have to start somewhere.
