Ringing in 130th year, Seattle Chamber of Commerce rebrands

The Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new name
and a new brand as it kicked off its 130th program year on Friday. Founded in
1882 to capitalize on advantageous Alaskan mail routes, the now-Seattle Metropolitan
Chamber of Commerceor Seattle Metro Chamber, for the chic and hurriedhas
grown into the largest network of businesses in the Puget
Sound region.
Seattle Metro Chamber, today with more than 2,200 member
businesses, focuses on business leadership, advocacy and development. President
and CEO Phil Bussey said in a statement that the name change helps to better
reflect the various roles we play and the dynamic region we represent. The
chambers initiatives in the past year have run the gamut from launching the
Civic Alliance for a Sound Economy (CASE) to creating a social media series to
educate members on consumer engagement.
