WINNER
Anita Geving
COO, The Polyclinic, Seattle

Since joining The Polyclinic in 2001, Anita Geving has helped transform the company into the leading independent, multispecialty medical practice in the Puget Sound region. The clinic has grown from 83 physicians and 425 staff members in 2001 to more than 200 physicians and advanced practice clinicians today, along with 1,025 staff members. It provides care to more than 200,000 patients at 15 locations in and around Seattle.

Im privileged to be able to take each day as a new opportunity to improve the care that patients receive from The Polyclinic, as well as improve the way we support our providers and staff in delivering that care, Geving says.

One of her chief contributions has been the growth and diversification of medical specialties offered at the clinic, including addition of digital mammography, breast surgery, colorectal surgery and spine surgery.

In 2009, Geving worked closely with the information technology leadership and staff to transition the clinic from paper records to a housewide Epic electronic medical record system. One of the most notable highlights of Gevings tenure was the acquisition of The Polyclinics nine-story, 205,000-square-foot flagship Madison Center location in 2010.

Her advice to other leaders in promoting change: Sometimes you simply cant get as far as you would like, but incremental changes eventually will add up to something profound. Be tenacious.

SILVER AWARD
Sundeep Malik, M.D.
Director of Transplant Anesthesiology, Physicians Anesthesia Service, Seattle

As president of Physicians Anesthesia Service (PAS) from January 2014 to October 2015, Sundeep Malik provided strategic vision and business development approaches to support a successful expansion from 70 to 120 physicians and allied health professionals. He continues to serve as director of transplant anesthesiology.

PAS is the largest private anesthesia practice in Washington state, providing services to more than 50,000 patients in the Seattle area each year. In January, PAS started providing anesthesia services at the Swedish Ballard Campus, making PAS the exclusive anesthesia provider for four of the five Swedish Health Services campuses.
