Waltham, Mass.-based PerkinElmer
, a maker of scientific instruments, for
$90 million, Xconomy reports.

Signature Genomics is a local leader in genetic
testing. Seattle Business has featured the company several times.
Co-founders Lisa Shaffer and Bassem Bajjani were on our list of the Top 25 Innovators and Entrepreneurs last year, and Shaffer was a runner-up in this year’s Leaders in
Health Care
in the Outstanding Achievement and Innovation in Life Sciences category.

Signature Genomics has about 120 employees. It is unclear what the future of the Spokane company’s staff will be.
