Joyce Lee
Joyce Lee, chief financial officer for Seattle-based Marguerite Casey Foundation, has joined the board of the Northwest Area Foundation of St. Paul, Minnesota. The Northwest Area Foundation works with organizations and communities in eight states and 75 Native nations to reduce poverty and achieve financially secure futures. Lee was elected to the board in January 2019. She will serve a three-year term.
Marguerite Casey Foundation is a national, independent philanthropy that exists to help low-income families strengthen their voice and mobilize their communities to achieve a more just and equitable society for all. Through trust in families and unrestricted general operating grants, Marguerite Casey Foundation is nurturing the movement building efforts of community organizations in more than a dozen states and among national grantees. It works in the West, Southwest, Midwest and South.
Lee joined Marguerite Casey Foundation in 2012. Her portfolio includes investment and risk management, budgeting, accounting, tax reporting, information technology and administration. She collaborates with the grantmaking team on program-related investment (PRI) strategies. She also provides insight and advice about the financial health of grantee organizations.
Lee is a former principal at Clark Nuber P.S., the Seattle-area CPA firm that provides accounting and consulting services to clients worldwide. At Clark Nuber, she focused on supporting foundations and nonprofit organizations in achieving their goals. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner.
She is the board treasurer of Hispanics in Philanthropy, a nonprofit organization. She also serves on the board of 501 Commons. She earned her executive master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington. Western Washington University awarded Lee a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
