Curt Simonson

PEMCO Insurance is pleased to welcome Curt Simonson to the company’s people and brand team, where he’ll curate and oversee opportunities for employee growth as the department’s learning and development manager. Simonson brings more than 30 years of training and development experience within the public and private sectors, including a military career where he managed diverse teams, drove leadership development strategies, and achieved organizational success for the U.S. Army.

As a key member of PEMCO’s people and brand team, Simonson will help amplify the employee and customer experience by partnering with human relations and business leadership to align learning and development design and delivery with the company’s business priorities. His responsibilities include managing employee training programs and leadership development strategies, with a focus on creating opportunities for growth.

“Curt is known among corporate, academic, and public-sector leaders for his ability to reach across boundaries to lead effective training and development strategies,” said Stan McNaughton, CEO of PEMCO Insurance. “His ability to engage and empower those around him will help us attract and retain the most capable and passionate employees who are dedicated to delivering rewarding and meaningful customer service experiences.”

Simonson has led learning and development initiatives among diverse groups, ranging from private sector finance teams to military intelligence forces.  Prior to joining PEMCO, Simonson worked as a strategy consultant at Spider Strategies, a performance management software company. In this role, he trained organizations and teams within the Army to translate strategic plans into executable roadmaps, develop performance measures, and track performance using advanced technology, tools and systems.

Simonson first enlisted in the U.S. Army as a medic and was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He served on Active Duty, in the U.S. Army Reserve, and in the Army National Guard, while his last assignment was as Garrison Commander at Camp Murray, Wash.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Kearney State College, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Simonson and his wife Kate, an Army nurse, live in Spanaway, Wash. Together they have a daughter, Emily, who recently graduated college and now works in publishing in New York City.
