Seattle is the No. 8 foodie city in the United States, according to a study by WalletHub.
Vancouver finished No. 39, Spokane No. 63 and Tacoma No. 111. Portland is the No. 1 foodie city in the nation, followed by New York and Miami.
WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 30 indicators, including affordability and accessibility and food festivals per capita.
Restaurants and the food-service industry are a driving force in the state. Washington contains 15,690 eating and drinking locations, according to the National Restaurant Association. At 333,500 jobs, restaurant and food-service positions represent 10% of statewide employment. Restaurants in the state racked up $13.5 billion in sales last year.
