The Fastest Growing Job in Washington State is Not in Technology

The number of jobs in this sector has risen by more than 300%

They recruit workers. They help employees navigate often-complicated benefits and compensation packages. They handle office disputes.

Human resources specialist jobs are the fastest-growing in Washington state, according to a study by blog Commercial Cafe. Over the past 10 years, the number of such jobs has skyrocketed a staggering 347%.

Thirty-five percent of all employees in the state work in business. Almost 19% are employed in the industrial sector, 12.9% in health care and 5.1% in information technology.

Slightly more than 9.1 percent work in the hospitality industry, a number likely to grow as the region continues to set records for tourism and convention business.

Washington state has 3.22 million residents in the workforce.

Nationwide, personal care jobs are the fastest-growing category as the countrys population continues to age. That job category has risen 251% the past decade.
