Stoel Rives Promotes Attorney to Partner Status in Seattle

Corporate and litigation law firm focused on energy, natural resources, environmental law and climate change promotes lawyer in key practice area

 

SEATTLE (January 2017)Stoel Rives LLP, an Am Law 200 law firm, is pleased to announce that John S. Laney has been named a partner in the Seattle office. He is one of 13 Stoel Rives attorneys that became new partners of the firm effective Jan. 1, 2017. Located in six of the firm’s offices nationwide, the new partners are focused on client value, diversity and innovation, which are keystones of Stoel Rives’ corporate culture and commitment to excellence.

Laney represents clients in corporate governance matters, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate, securities and financing transactions. He often works with companies in the energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and food and beverage industries, including clients like Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. and Darigold, Inc.

 

“I help clients with mergers and acquisitions, in addition to a variety of other matters including corporate finance and lease arrangements,” said Laney. “Our goal is to provide our clients with effective, efficient legal counsel that helps them meet their business objectives.”

 

Laney is an active member of the Seattle community. He recently was recognized by Northwest Asian Weekly as a “Top Contributor” to the local Asian community, he serves on the board of governors of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association and he is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Laney holds a law degree from Seattle University School of Law.
