Delmas Whittaker takes helm of Port of Seattle’s Fishermen’s Terminal

New Senior Manager will also oversee fishing and commercial vessel activity, including Maritime Industrial Center

 

SEATTLE—Delmas Whittaker has been selected as the new Maritime Division Senior Manager, Fishing and Commercial Vessels.  Delmas will oversee the leadership and day-to-day operations of Fishermen’s Terminal and the Maritime Industrial Center. 

 

Delmas joins the Maritime Division of the Port from Sea-Tac International Airport where he spent the past ten years in Aviation Maintenance, most recently serving as the Logistics and Small works manager.  During his tenure at Sea Tac Airport, Delmas also served as manager of the Airport Distribution Center, a 50,000 square foot warehouse and more than 30 satellite storerooms with over $6.5 million of inventory.

 

Delmas replaces Kenny Lyles who was promoted to Director, Fishing and Commercial Operations, which is a combined department of the Terminal 91 and Fishermen’s Terminal lines of business.

 

Prior to joining the Port of Seattle, Delmas spent 25 years in the United States Navy with the last 13 years as a commissioned officer.  Delmas brings years of leadership experience to this position, having managed teams from 10 to 200.  Delmas has an associates of arts degree from Olympic College; bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University; “Certified Manager” credential from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM); FEMA Incident Command Systems “Train the Trainer;” and is also a member of the Project Management Institute, Olympia Chapter.

 

The leadership and managerial skill that Delmas brings to this position will serve his team well as Fishermen’s Terminal embarks upon major development over the next five years.  He will be called upon to provide outward representation to our customer base, elected officials, regulators, and industry and community members as we transition into Phase One of the Gateway Development project and other upcoming developments.

 

While away from the Port, Delmas is a Certified Track and Field Coach and Washington State Track and Field Official.  Delmas has served on the board of directors with the Port of Seattle chapters of the National Management Association (NMA) and Blacks in Government (BIG), having earned “Leader of the Year” by both Port of Seattle affiliations.
