Interesting Reading

By Seattle Business Magazine June 10, 2010

Two interesting articles I happened across today.

One, at Xconomy.com, Dan Shapiro, the former CEO of Ontela, talks about company culture, and how the phrase, to put it lightly, gets misused. It’s worth a read.

The other one is in Foreign Policy magazine, where an Iranian activist shoots down the media’s conventional wisdom that Twitter played a significant role in last year’s post-election revolt. The takeaway sentence: “Western journalists who couldn’t reach — or didn’t bother reaching? — people on the ground in Iran simply scrolled through the English-language tweets posted with tag #iranelection. Through it all, no one seemed to wonder why people trying to coordinate protests in Iran would be writing in any language other than Farsi.”

Late breaking news: Bothell-based Vertafore bought for $1.4 billion. (Link to Xconomy.com)
