When Edifecs founder and CEO Sunny Singh first took a look at the way the health care industry managed its information, he and his team saw a system that often made simple things more complex. From their experience developing electronic data interchange tools for other industries, Singh says, We knew we could make a difference.

More than a dozen years later, Edifecs now helps most large health insurers, many government agencies and major hospitals with the exchange of patient and payment information in compliance with the stringent privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). By becoming fans and students of that industry, Singh has led Edifecs to become one of the fastest growing companies in health care IT, with no outside investment and carrying no debt.

Evolving government and industry mandates offer opportunity for Edifecs to improve health care as well as profit. Singh sees his company helping to bring patients to the center of the system through seamless yet secure exchanges of information between employers, insurers and providers.

Massive changes lie ahead, says Singh, and we are part and parcel of that.
