Amazon Opens Second Go Grocery Store

Seattle-based tech giant Amazon opened its second Go grocery store in Redmond on Wednesday. 

The 13,000-square-foot grocery store has a large back-of-house kitchen to offer a selection of hot prepared foods and an Amazon Hub Locker+ to return and pick up Amazon website purchases. The store also offers fresh produce and a wider selection of baby products. 

The Redmond store is at 2010 148th Ave. N.E., Suite 160, with store hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

Amazon debuted the first Go grocery store in the U.S. in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood in February, which offered a wider selection than Amazon Go convenience stores. Amazon confirmed that it will open another Go Grocery store in Washington, D.C. 

Both locations offer checkout free “Just Walk Out” technology. The Redmond store’s return and pick up Hub Locker will also offer a contact free experience. 

Five of Amazon’s 26 Go convenience stores are currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Of the six Go convenience stores in the Seattle area, the location in the Macy’s Building is temporarily closed but thr rest remain open, according to the Amazon website
