Precision is critical in advanced manufacturing, whether the material being machined is metal or, as is increasingly the case in Washington, a composite material.
This obsession with precision is the specialty of ATS, which operates both in-house and mobile calibration labs to test temperature uniformities in furnaces and autoclaves, as well as the accuracy of measurement instruments like load cells and dynamometers.

Cathy Baldwin and business partner Phil Lausier bought ATS in 2001 and have tripled the company in size since then. Acquisitions helped fuel that growth, and the company is looking for more opportunities.

ATS also focuses on people, expanding hiring to military veterans and to individuals transitioning from substance-abuse programs and with arrest records. Baldwin says those given a chance to rebuild their lives have proven to be among the most loyal and hardworking the company has hired.
